Why the Arts Matter
Art is more than sculptor, paint on canvas or music in the air — it’s a powerful force for change. Research shows that participation in the arts improves academic outcomes for students, increases empathy and cross-cultural understanding, strengthens mental health and resilience, and drives economic growth through cultural tourism and creative industries.
The Need
Public funding for the arts continues to shrink, leaving most marginalized communities without access to creative opportunities or educational insights brought forth through the arts. Children in low-income schools are losing arts programs altogether. Without action, entire generations could grow up without knowing the power of the arts.
